Cline Avenue Closure

To Our Valued Customer:

The permanent Cline Avenue Closure has come as a surprise to many of the users of this road. Although we do not believe the closure will have an immediate effect, we will continue to monitor the decisions and plans for Cline Avenue’s future. We would like to hear your thoughts on if it would impact your travel to the Gary Chicago International Airport.

Please submit your comments via my blog. I look forward to hearing from you.

Chris do you have any commercial carriers currently looking into the airport? If not I don't see the Cline Ave closing really having an impact on the airport

Harry, we have several carriers that are looking at the airport but none of them are under contract. We have several charter flights that currently use the airport. As I have mentioned publicly, Cline Avenue bridge closing does not significantly impact the airport if you are coming from Chicago and using the Skyway bridge because a suitable option is the Indiana Toll Road. Having said that, if you are located east of Chicago and west of Gary, railroad crossings at grade are an impediment if you are using secondary roads. The impact of Cline Avenue closure is simply not viewed for the short-term but it is viewed for what the airport will become in the future. Therefore, the closure of Cline will impact the airport. Thanks
